Chris Clark, Division Head of RocketMine sat down with Aki Anastasiou of Techbusters on CNBC Africa on 1 June.
Anastasiou wanted to find out more information on the common uses of unmanned aerial vehicles in South Africa. The various uses and possibilities were explained and the benefits for South Africa. Chris further stated that there are less than 10 countries in the world that have regulated drone, as they are commonly known, usage. This elevates South Africa to a point where we are now competitive in the drone industry.
Chris also made a distinction between what would be regulated under law and what wouldn’t. “As soon as you start making money from using your drone, then that would be classified as commercial use, where regulations would apply to you”- Chris Clark. This just means that if you are flying a drone as a hobby, the law does not apply to you.
